Our spouse is more than an acquaintance, a friend, even a family member. Because a husband or wife is closer to us physically, emotionally, and spiritually, they have a more profound and direct impact on our lives. Thus, we are more justified in lobbying to change their diet than we might otherwise be. But that is easier said than done.
The close relationship that exists between a husband and wife, combined with the almost sanctity of one’s food choices, makes this a very delicate and challenging endeavor. But given the impact diet has on one’s quality and quality of life, values, principles, and day in and day out routine, we would be remiss by not tackling the subject.
This Veg Report lists a number of approaches to assist us in moving our spouse towards a vegetarian or vegan way of life. However, the process should not be viewed as a black-and-white, do-or-die, short term project, but rather as a learning, growing experience that is part and parcel of every successful marriage.
